About Us
Hello and welcome! We’re Nick and Kamila, the new kaitiaki (guardians) of this historic building and the passionate team behind Ranfurly Green Hostel, Polka Apartment, and the local laundry.
Our journey here began in July 2025 when we purchased the property through our company, Nickamila Limited, from Bill and Suzy (Subil South Limited). We’re continuing the commercial laundry business, sharing the upstairs as the Polka Apartment on Airbnb, and opening the hostel for the summer season from mid-October.
We live onsite (downstairs) and are usually around, so please come and say hello! Our own story is built on adventure. We’ve travelled through countless countries together, a passion we continued even after Nick’s accident in 2022. We love the mountains, connecting with local cultures, and exploring on a tight budget.
In a beautiful twist of fate, Kamila discovered this very building while cycle touring from Omarama, over the stunning Danseys Pass, and along the Otago Central Rail Trail. We’d often dreamt of running a hostel, perhaps in Europe, but Central Otago stole our hearts.
We feel privileged to care for a piece of Ranfurly’s history—this building has stood here for over a hundred years, once serving as the town’s Post Office—and we invite you to become a part of its next chapter.

Room 2 – Shared Dorm
An east-facing dorm room for up to four guests, with two single beds and one bunk bed. Each guest has their own set of shelves for storage.

A south-facing single room with a bedside table, foldable chair and tiny table. This room also features an independent entry for added convenience.

Room 6 – Double Garden Room
A west-facing room with garden views, featuring a double bed, tiny table, two foldable chairs, bedside table with lamp, and practical shelving.

Room 3 – Cozy Double
An east-facing double room with ottomans, a round table, corner clothes hanger, bedside table, and a free-standing lamp—perfect for enjoying the morning sun.

A south-facing single room with a bedside table, small table, and chair—ideal for solo travelers. Includes an independent entry.

Room 7 – Triple Garden Room
A spacious, west-facing room overlooking the garden, with one double and one single bed, a minimalist wardrobe, bedside table, and two chairs for extra comfort.

Your private, fully self-contained top-floor apartment offers stunning views of the surrounding mountain ranges to the north and east. It features two comfortable bedrooms, each with a queen bed, and is equipped with a modern kitchen (oven, stove, fridge, dishwasher, toaster, kettle). The toilet is separate from the bathroom for added convenience. After a day of exploring the Maniototo’s incredible cycling routes, secure bike storage is available on-site. We also provide free on-site parking for a hassle-free arrival. Inside, relax in the cozy living room by the wood-burning fireplace, strum the guitar, or choose a book, board game, or jigsaw puzzle from our collection.

We are proud to provide a full-service, pick-up/drop-off laundry solution for Ranfurly. While we are not a coin-operated self-service facility, our competitive pricing reflects the convenience and quality of our professional care.
We offer expert per-item service for stain removal, washing, drying, folding, and optional ironing. As pricing depends on the specific items and services required, please contact us directly for a personal quote. We’re happy to help!
